Beyond the Basics: Why HexArmor Redefines PPE Specs for Safety Managers

The Spec Sheet Trap

Most safety managers I meet start with the same assumption: any glove labeled “cut-resistant“ will handle their shop floor. It’s not their fault—that’s how the catalogs present it. But after four years of inspecting nearly 1,500 unique PPE items annually for a mid-size distribution house, I can tell you: that assumption is wrong. And it’s costing you in incident reports.

The short answer: wet them thoroughly with warm water, wear them while damp, and let them air-dry on your hands. Then remove and shape them. Don’t use heat—that hardens the leather. This was accurate as of January 2025. The PPE market shifts—validate your own costs and standards. And for god’s sake, don’t buy by cut level alone.
